When talking about the 2017-18 Eagles girls basketball team, you have to first get the elephant out of the room and talk about what’s missing: A group of senior who graduated last May who won three consecutive district titles.

That’s fine with Eagles coach Tony Phillips. Get that discussion out of the way now, he has plenty of young players ready to take the court.

The Eagles will have a very new team that Phillips thinks will be competitive with other Tri-County Conference teams.

“From the beginning we have been working to build a program,” Phillips said, “and we have been very successful at the JV and freshman level these past two years.”
