The SoBoCo Eagles knew that they would need to hang with Blair Oaks early if they wanted to be in the game in the second half.

But the Falcons came out flying, staked themselves to an 18-0 halftime lead, and cruised to a 42-13 Tri-County Conference win in Ashland on Friday.

For the Eagles it was their second straight loss after opening the season with four wins. The Eagles are in third place in their conference and district standings with three regular-season games remaining.

“We just can’t simulate their game speed,” said Eagles coach Trent Tracy as he watched the Falcons drive the ball downfield – only to have Kolton Schupp make the first of his two interceptions on the goal line.

However, when the Eagles attempted to run the ball inside, the Falcons stuffed the run for a 2-point safety. Then, after the Eagles free kick gave Blair Oaks a short field, the Falcons scored to take a 10-0 lead on Nolan Hair’s TD pass to Cody Alexander.

Blair Oaks extended its lead on a 1-yard run by Hair which was set up by a 75-yard cutback run by Jake Van Ronzelen.

The Eagles worked to slow the game down in the second quarter as the SoBoCo defense began to halt the Falcons ground game.
