The SoBoCo Eagles didn’t waste much time letting the Versailles Tigers know which team was going to dominate the line of scrimmage last Friday night.
Versailles gained only nine yards on their first three downs, attempted a fake punt and got stuffed by Eagles linebacker Ty Varvil.
Five plays later, Jackson Sartain rumbled nine yards for a TD and the route was on.
The Tigers actually moved the ball for three first downs on their next possession, got stuffed on another fourth down – at the Eagles 18-yard line – and SoBoCo promptly went 82-yards in 12 plays for their second score – a Cooper Mange 2-yard plunge into the end zone.
It was all the momentum Southern Boone needed as they turned in a dominating 47-0 win in their last regular season game of the year.
The win put the Eagles at 6-3 and third place in the district standings. SoBoCo hosts Fulton on Friday in Ashland at 7 p.m.
“We did a good job at the line of scrimmage,” said Eagles coach Trent Tracy. “Charlie Smith is playing the best he’s ever played and everyone on the line is doing their job.”
The Eagles rolled up 293 yards rushing against Versailles with seven different Eagles carrying hte ball.
Jackson Sartain had 93 yards in only 5 carries and scored three touchdowns, Quarterback Sam Stichnote had 80 yards and a TD and Cooper Mange and Seth Mueller each had a run for a score.
