Down by one run in the final inning, the Southern Boone County baseball team needed some production from the batter’s box if they were going to pull out their eventual 7-5 win against Father Tolton.

Smart hitting and keen eyes created the momentum the team needed. Ethan Osborne started the inning with a full count walk, then stole second before Colby Phillips had the chance to see a pitch. The Trailblazers made a pitching change in an attempt to finish the game, but Phillips took a second walk to start off the evening.

With a runner in scoring position, head coach Brian Ash played some strategic ball. Parker Boyce, the three-hole hitter, laid down a sac bunt to advance the runners to second and third. One out, and the Eagles had the opportunity to take the lead.

Keegan Maynard walked to load the bases, bringing senior Nate Allen to the plate. Allen took strike one, looking. Strike two travelled past him without the bat moving.
