Diving into the toughest portion of their fall soccer schedule, the Southern Boone Eagles came away from St. Louis with a loss and a tie. And hopefully a few lessons learned.

The Eagles fell to reigning state champion John Burroughs 3-0 on Thursday and then tied Kansas City’s Pembroke Hill 1-1 on Friday.

The John Burroughs Bombers remained unbeaten, untied and unscored upon this season and Eagles coach Chris Miller was impressed enough to say that they can play with anyone.

“We did not compete well in the first half,” Miller said, “but we competed better in the second half. We have not seen anything like Burroughs. They had us on our heels most of the game.”

Burroughs ball movement and passing game had the Eagles chasing them up and down the field. “They can beat you in a lot of different ways,” Miller added.
