Vernon Lee Cosper of Columbia Mo., passed away June 15th at Boone Hospital Center, surrounded by his loved ones.

Vernon was born July 28, 1938 in Earlimart, California, to the late Wilma (Cox) and Robert Cosper.

Vernon spent his early years enlisted in the United States Airforce as an Aerial Photographer at the Hollowman Airforce Base in New Mexico. He was honorably discharged in the early 60’s, when he then moved his family to Visalia, California where he worked for the California State Highway Patrol into his middle-age years.

Vernon made his way to Ashland, Missouri to live closer to his son and grandchildren, where he started a construction company that he retired from in 2004.

He then spent his time being a part of the American Legion, Historical Society and the Ashland Commissioners Office until he later decided to give all his time and energy into being a full-time husband, father, grandfather and eventually a greatgrandfather.

He is survived by his wife Patsy J. Cosper, of Columbia, Mo., Brothers, Myrl Cosper in Texas, and Harlan Cosper in Moses Lake, Wash. Son, Gregory Lee Cosper, of Ashland, Mo.; grandsons Brandon Lee Cosper of Ashland, Shawn Gregory Cosper and his wife Mary K. Cosper, of Columbia, Mo; as well as his most cherished Cosper of all, his great-grandson Oliver Lee Roland Cosper.

He is proceeded in death by his daughter, Linda Cosper, and a brother Harold Cosper.

A celebration of life will be held for family and friends on Friday, June 21 from 1-3 p.m. at the American Legion Hall in Ashland.
