Lloyd Dennis (Whitey) Nichols, 65, of Ashland, Missouri passed away August 4, 2016. He was born February 4, 1951 in Columbia, Missouri to Lloyd Waldo & Evelyn Nichols. He grew up in the Ashland area and went to Southern Boone schools. Whitey spent the majority of his life living in Boone County and was very active in the Southern Boone community. He worked for the City of Columbia Water & Light Department for 33 years and after retirement drove a school bus for the SoBoCo school district. He loved to fish; he played softball for numerous years and was an avid golfer. He was a member of the Ashland Jaycees, SoBoCo Booster Club, and Wilton Boat Club. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Lloyd Thomas Nichols and Mark Kenneth Nichols He married LaNita on May 13, 1979 and she survives. He is also survived by his sisters Sharon Rosen (Gary) and Leslie Hughes (Ted) both of Holt’s Summit and his 3 children Becky Ralph (Butch) of Boonville, Laura Nichols of Denver, Colorado, and Lloyd Matthew Nichols of Kansas City; 1 grandson Anthony Ralph of Boonville and numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Visitation was held August 8 at 9:00 and was followed by services at 11:30 at Robinsons Funeral Home in Ashland. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society.
