Edith Loraine Steelman, of Ashland passed away November 24, 2016 at Ashland Healthcare, she was 94 years old.

Edith was born September 2, 1922 in Ashland, the daughter of Jasper James and Beulah Gaudy Jones Griffin. She married Hurschel P. Steelman on November 2, 1945 in Jefferson City and he preceded her in death in 1978. Edith retired from Food Service at University of Missouri after 20 years of service. Prior to the university, she worked at Lenoir Home and Oberman’s Factory in Jefferson City. Edith spent her life enjoying her son, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her most joyful days were when her grandchildren came to visit.

Funeral services will be held at Robinson Funeral Home on November 28 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation one hour prior to the service.

Burial will follow in New Salem Cemetery in Ashland.

Survivors include, her son, Jesse Lee (Bev) Steelman of Ashland; one sister, Goldie Rippeto of Ashland; three grandsons, Shawn (Jamie) Steelman, Shannon (Faith) Steelman and Scott (Amber) Steelman; seven great grandchildren, Marideth Metcalf, Fletcher McCune and Johnna McCune, Hayden Steelman, Reese Steelman, Madison Steelman and Gracie Steelman.

She was also preceded in death by her parents and three brothers.
