All Roy Williams wanted to do was get his old house ready for demolition.

Ashland resident Roy Williams found this photo inside a wall of his home on Main Street.

Now he has a small mystery on his hands.

Williams, who lives at 308 Main Street in Ashland, had a new, smaller, home built this past summer and he began stripping down his 1940s-era two-story home and its full basement for demolition.

As he pulled out window frames, Williams found a photo of a couple on a piece of porcelain wedged between the frame and the wall. The marking on the back of the photo says it was produced by “S.A. Dedouch Oak Park Ill.”
