In a brief meeting last Tuesday, the Ashland Planning and Zoning board approved the Boone County building code. The county uses a version of the International Building Codes of 2012.

The City of Ashland currently uses the 2006 International Building Code.

P&Z chair Ernie Wren said the 20-minute meeting included the public hearing – at which nobody appeared to comment on the change.

“It is a good idea for us to adopt the same code Boone County uses for our inspections,” said Wren. “The County adopted this code in 2014 and I think it will work well for us.”
