Temperatures are warming up and it will quickly be time for Southern Boone families to hit the pool.

The Ashland Optimist Community Swim Pool free “Open House” is scheduled for Wednesday, May 25th, 5:30pm to 7:30pm.

The public is invited to attend this free event, according to pool coordinator Ernie Wrein. Pool passes will be available for purchase, parties scheduled, and lessons registered.

Wren said free dinner of hotdogs and drinks will be at the Open House.

As for summer swimming, Wren said last week that the lifeguards are hired, the pool has been cleaned up and is ready to go.

“The pool will open on Saturday, May 28th, Memorial Day weekend, with hours from 11am to 7pm seven days a week,” Wren said.

Wren added that the Optimist pool will feature a variety of new features and upgrades this year. The kiddie splash area will see a newly painted mural wall, colorful chairs, and the return of dragon and beetle sprayers.

Daily admission fees will remain the same at $4.00 per swimmer, with children two and under free. Individual and family season passes will also remain the same as last year, at $50 per person and $150 per family (up to four family members, with additional passes for $35/each).

Wren said swimming lessons and water aerobics will also be held again this year. For more information, see a lifeguard at the swimming pool.
