July 4 Closings and Events

Many businesses and government offices will be closed on Monday for the July 4th holiday.

The City of Ashland will be closed and trash services will be moved back one day. County offices will also be closed for the holiday.

Moser’s Grocery will be open on July 4th from 7 a.m.-10 p.m.

The Ashland Optimist Club will host its annual free swimming day from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Optimist Pool.

Fireworks events will include:

• Fire in the Sky – Columbia at Flat Branch Park beginning with activities at 6:30 p.m. and fireworks at 9:15 p.m.

• Jefferson City’s Salute to America will be held July 2-3 and 4 in downtown. Fireworks will begin at dusk on July 4. See the event’s website for a full schedule.

The Boone County Journal will close at 3 pm on Thursday and Friday, be closed on Monday for the holiday and publish a smaller edition on July 6. Deadline for advertising is Tuesday, July 5 at 10:00 a.m.
