Lennon, Parry offer views to voters during community forum.

Southern Boone voters listened to candidates Fred Parry and Brianna Lennon for the first 30-minutes on Monday evening, then became a part of the program with their shared experiences and questions.

The two candidates for Karen Miller’s Southern District seat on the Boone County Commission didn’t offer any new policies or positions, but they did take the time to offer two separate lines of thinking – while both focused on improved communication.

“We need to have better communication between the Boone Hospital board and the commission,” Lennon said, in reference to the current contract negotiations between the hospital board and potential new management. Lennon also advocated for competition between Boone and University Hospitals.

Parry, a member of the hospital board, told the audience the hospital was in “fantastic financial condition” and that some services between the two hospitals did not have to be duplicated.

The two candidates also were asked about the Burnett School Road Bridge. Lennon noted that improved communications about roads and bridges were important and that budgetary constraints would limit what could be done in many cases.
