Class With Flexible Seating

There was a new look to one second grade class Monday evening during the SoBoCo school district’s Open House. Teacher Monica Wilkerson had a variety of non-traditional chairs.

The first day of school for SoBoCo is today.

At Wilkerson’s open house, students had the opportunity to use the exercise balls, camp chairs, yoga mats and even a pair of ottomans.

The new seating arrangements do include a few traditional chairs, but also a pair of standing desks.

“There is a lot of research on movement in the classroom and I will give the students the first week to explore different seating,” Wilkerson said.
