Ashland City Administrator Lyn Woolford said at last week’s Board of Aldermen meeting that the City was quickly gaining back on it under-performing sales tax collections.

Woolford told the aldermen that Central Concrete, which has been paying City of Columbia sales tax, had not paid City of Ashland sales tax over the past three years. The concrete company is located in the Ashland Industrial Park off of Angel Lane in Ashland.

“We received $30,974,” Woolford told the aldermen. “I don’t know if we will see that on this month’s report – likely it will be reported next month,” Woolford said.

Woolford said he would carefully monitor the situation closely in the future.

“I think we are on good terms with this company now and the last thing we want to do is to have a hearing and potentially revoke their license.”

The City’s sales tax collections have been about 8% behind last year.
