It may seem that the City of Ashland simply wanted to continue the Christmas spirit well into January, but it was actually due to a faulty hydrolic hose.

The city’s Christmas decorations had remained on light poles around town until this week.

“We had a few folks call in and wonder if we forgot them,” said City Administrator Lyn Woolford. But what they had was a problem with the truck used and a sizable snowstorm that occupied personnel for a number of days.

“The truck that we share with the Town of Hartsburg needed a new hydrolic part, which had to be ordered,” Woolford said.

City employees began taking down and storing the decorations on Monday.

• The City will not have any meetings this week, the next Ashland Board of Aldermen meeting is February 5.
