Construction is now underway on the $440,000 project to build new sidewalks along the south side of Ash Street from Main Street to Henry Clay Boulevard, and along the west side of Henry Clay Boulevard from Ash Street to Redbud Lane.
“We’re excited to complete this next phase of construction on such an important amenity for the students and citizens of Ashland,” said Lyn Woolford, City of Ashland’s Chief of Police and City Administrator. “We are very appreciative of the 80 percent grant that the Federal Highway Administration and Missouri Department of Transportation provided for this project. The need for this stretch of sidewalk is critical to get the students of the Southern Boone School District and other pedestrians off the roads and onto a safer ADA accessible route.”
The project includes more than 1,800 lineal feet of sidewalks including curb and gutter, curb inlets, storm piping, waterline upgrades, and driveway and pedestrian ramp improvements. The project is scheduled to be completed by Sept. 2, 2016.
