Lead Story: Aldermen approve bank financing for land deal.

The Ashland Board of Aldermen were expected to expedite the lending process on Tuesday evening and vote to get a $300,000 bank loan from Connections Bank.

The loan would be used to pay the balance of the property being purchased from Westhoff Rentals. The City will pay $75,000 at closing of the total $375,000 purchase of nine-tenths of an acre on east Broadway, next to the Highway 63 southbound exit ramp.

“The State would not cover this sort of purchase,” said Mayor Gene Rhorer. “I really wanted to go local because we are going to sell some land – this is not a longterm loan.”

A memo from Connections Bank President Bill Lloyd said the following terms for the $300,000 loan included a 3.75% interest rate for five years with the seller being responsible for closing costs.
